Erie Playhouse

Performance: Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits Genre: Musical Series: Special Event Location: Theatre

The Erie Playhouse is thrilled to present Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits – a hilarious, loving and endlessly entertaining tribute to some of the theatre’s greatest stars and songwriters.

Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits is 90-minutes of musical satire that pokes fun at forty years of Broadway’s biggest shows, from Hello, Dolly! to Wicked, and all hits in between. No big-time Broadway composer, choreographer, star or producer has been left out. Audiences will be entertained by 54 Broadway “stars” all brought to life by six talented Erie Playhouse performers – Kate Amatuzzo, Shawn Clerkin, Dominic Del Greco, Leah Johnson, Kristen Henry and Patrick Thiem.

You don’t have to be up on the latest Broadway hits to enjoy Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits. You don’t even have to be a theatre buff. Most of the shows that this show spoofs are shows that not only played on Broadway, but have also been done at the Playhouse or as part of the Broadway series at the Warner Theatre and/or have been made into popular movies.

Included in the line-up of shows being spoofed are Annie, Les Miz, Mamma Mia!, Cats, Hairspray, A Chorus Line, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof and more. Broadway personalities that are the victims of spot-on parody include Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Liza Minnelli, Mandy Patinkin, Harvey Fierstein, Bob Fosse, Cameron Mackintosh, Stephen Sondheim, Barbra Streisand and more.

Almitra Clerkin directs and choreographs, with Eric Smrcka handling musical direction. Mary Rose Ferrara will provide the appropriate costume pieces with Joe Hassler providing the lighting to set the mood.

Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits – it’s time to revisit, and laugh with some of your favorite shows.
