Based on the award-winning children’s book by Melinda Long and David Shannon, How I Became a Pirate is a captivating musical, which captures the spirit of Long’s hilarious text and will delight young and old alike.

How I Became a Pirate is the story of young Jeremy Jacobs who is visited by a pirate band one day while digging in the sand at the beach. The pirate crew, lead by Captain Braid Beard, admire Jeremy for his exceptional digging skills and they recruit him to help them bury their treasure.

Jeremy thinks the pirate life is for him. He skips soccer practice, leaves his family behind and takes to the high seas. Led by the surly, burly Capt. Braid Beard, Jeremy is trained in all things pirate. Before long Jeremy gets homesick, especially when he learns all of the things pirates don't do — like tuck you in at night, play soccer or hug each other.
